JPN 301

In this course, emphasis is placed on using Japanese as a medium for communication, with most instructions, assignments, and class discussions being held in Japanese. Speaking skills will be further honed by adding in depth oral presentations, with a heavy emphasis on learning proper usage of honorifics. Listening practice is extended to significantly longer clips and audio samples. Reading will be extended to more complex and longer passages, with significantly greater emphasis on increasing Japanese academic writing ability. Throughout the semester, deepening understanding of Japanese culture will be emphasize through longer written passages and practical application of Japanese in class conversations. Learning grammatical patterns, vocabulary, and Kanji will continue to be emphasized. This course covers the last 4 Chapters of Genki textbook**.
