- First, could you tell us about yourself? (Your name, age, occupation, etc., as much as you are comfortable sharing)
- My name is Cameron Cook. I’m 28 years old, living in Texas right now, and currently working as a software developer.
- How long have you been taking classes at Oku Sensei’s Japanese?
- I started my classes in January 2022 and have been attending classes for around 1.5 years now total.
- What was your situation before you started Oku Sensei's Japanese?
- Before joining Oku Sensei’s Japanese, I had taken Japanese classes in college, and had always been interested in learning and improving my Japanese.
- What results were you expecting before signing up? And what results did you actually achieve?
- I expected that through the coursework and lessons in Oku Sensei’s Japanese, I would be able to reinforce what I had learned in college, as well as improve my overall knowledge and ability beyond my current knowledge too. Through taking the courses each semester, I was able to not only review my current knowledge but learn a lot more, helping me in all areas of the language.
- Why do you think you were able to achieve the results mentioned in Q4?
- I think the teaching style and lessons are formatted very well, and with Oku Sensei’s ability to always answer questions and guide the class, it made me learn and retain Japanese much better overall.
- What was the most memorable aspect of learning at Oku Sensei's Japanese?
- The textbook readings and interactive exercises were definitely some of the most memorable. Conversations between classmates and reading comprehension through reading textbook passages helped a lot.
- Have you studied Japanese anywhere else? What differences did you notice compared to other Japanese language schools?
- I have studied Japanese in College. Compared to college, Oku Sensei’s Japanese is much more personal, and gives you the option to go at your own pace and study exactly what you want.
- Did you find the price to be expensive? (Did you feel that what you gained was worth more than what you paid?)
- I thought the price was very reasonable for the amount of time you have and the feedback you can receive.
- Who would you recommend Oku Sensei's Japanese to? On the other hand, if there is someone you wouldn't recommend it to, what kind of person would that be?
- I would recommend Oku Sensei’s Japanese to anyone with a passion for Japanese language learning, regardless of skill level. If you’re dedicated and want to commit to a great learning experience, I think it would be good to join. I don’t think there’s any specific person I wouldn’t recommend to, unless their situation is one where they’re too busy or don’t want to study Japanese in the first place.
- What content attracted you to sign up for Oku Sensei's Japanese? Did you have any hesitations when signing up?
- It was mainly Oku Sensei, who I had previously had as a professor in college. I had no hesitations as I knew her already and knew that her classes and teaching style would be great and beneficial.
- If you hadn’t signed up for Oku Sensei's Japanese, what do you think your situation would be now? Also, when do you think is the best time to sign up?
- If I hadn’t signed up, I don’t think I would be nearly as far in my Japanese language skill. Anytime should be good to sign up, but probably towards the beginning of a semester course would be best if you’re looking into that.
- As someone who has studied Japanese at Oku Sensei's Japanese, could you give a message to those who will start learning in the future?
- Oku Sensei is one of the best teachers I’ve had overall. She’s very kind and genuinely cares for all her students. She also encourages you to improve, and her teaching style can really benefit anyone that wants to learn Japanese at any level!
